One of my favorite things to do is to be silly once in a while. If you talk to my 4th grade students or my kids at home they will likely tell you that I am being silly at least a couple of times per day. One of the ways I am silly here at is to bug Mr. Rob our custodian. Mr. Rob and I have always played fun little jokes/pranks on each other. Believe it or not Mr. Rob does smile occasionally. Below is a picture of me in a trash can that I have moved out of place to bug Mr. Rob.

My name is Brendan B. and the book that I read was Diary of a Wimpy Kid-Dog Days by Jeff Kinney and it is a fiction book. I picked this book because I read all the other Wimpy Kid books and they were good. My favorite part was when Greg went outside to chase a dog in only his undies. I enjoyed this book because it was funny.

My name is Tyler M. and the book I read was Diary of a Wimpy Kid Dog Days by Jeff Kinney which is a fiction book. I picked this book because it looked good and my favorite part was when they got a dog. This book was extremely good.

Here’s the Math Expressions website:
http://www.eduplace.com/math/mthexp/
You can also go to (eduplace.com) and follow the prompts if that is easier to remember.
When you go into the site you can select “Grade 4,” then “Math Background,” These are broken down by unit so each unit explains how to do the math for that unit. The only problem is that the website has not been updated from the 2006 version so the units are labeled differently – 1, A, 2, B, 3, C you get the idea. Content wise they match up with what we have so parents will have to renumber the units in their heads – instead of unit “A” it would be unit “2″ and unit “B” is our unit “4″ – they quit using letters in the 2009 version so it just goes straight through 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, …
You could also go to “Teaching Tools” and then they can click on “Accessible Algorithms” and that show all the algorithms you are teaching step by step. This place on the website also has “Challenge Masters” and a “Glossary.”
There is also a “Resources for Families” route through the site but I don’t think it is as helpful. The only thing it has that the teacher route doesn’t is the Family Letters.
I hope this is helpful.

My name is Maria Maldonado and I am in Mr. Gort’s 4th grade. The fiction book I read was Diary of a Wimpy Kid The Last Straw by Jeff Kinney. I chose it because when I look around my classroom everyone is reading these book and laughing so I thought I would give it a try. My favorite part was when he was trying to call this girl under a sheet in his mom and dads room. Then his dad came in. When he was five feet away from the door the phone rang and it scared them to death!!! This book was great. When you thought it couldn’t get any better it did. It would have a new thing every minute. These books are very easy to read and funny. If you like fiction, this book takes you to a whole new level of fiction.
My name is CJ C. and the book I chose is Diary of a Wimpy Kid Dog Days by Jeff Kinney and it is a fiction book. I picked this book because it is funny and once you are reading it for a long time it is hard to put down. And it is also one of my favorite kind of books. My favorite part was when Rowley and Greg did a lawn mowing service and when they got to a house they didn’t know what to do when they came to dog poop. So he went around it and the girl didn’t pay him and Greg got his dad to do it while he sat in the car. It is a cool and funny book and it also will grab your attention!!
My name is Evan M. and the book I read was Magic Pickle by Scott Morse which is fiction. I chose it because it looked good. My favorite part was when the creature is broke open. I enjoyed this book because it is funny and easy to read. I think it is funny because there is a magic pickle.

You have another opportunity to RSVP for our upcoming December 1st Kids Art Fair! An RSVP form and Art Fair information will be sent home with students this week.
Please note that returning your RSVP to Mrs. Brouwer does NOT mean that you must purchase your child’s framed artwork. The RSVP just lets the Kids Art Fair people know how many frames to ship to Georgetown for the event. So please RSVP if you plan to attend and celebrate your child’s creativity, enjoy a fun make-n-take art project, and register for some cool door prizes to be given away during the evening.
Also – Georgetown’s December Kids Art Fair does not take the place of the annual district-wide Student Art Show, which will be held as usual in April 2010.
We hope to see you at Georgetown’s Art Fair on December 1st between 4-7 PM! Volunteers are still needed to help out – please contact Mrs. Brouwer!

My name is Jared M. and the book I chose is Kickoff! by Tiki and Ronde Barber. It is a fiction book and I got it for Christmas last year from my aunt. I haven’t read it until now. I picked it from my bookcase because it was about football. The two authors are real live football players. My favorite part was probably when Tiki and Ronde went to school and checked to see if they made the team. They did!!! But the author shows a lot of emotion at that part. For example, they were happy that they made the team but at the same time, they were sad because they didn’t make the starting team. I enjoyed this book so much because it’s about sports. Sometimes I would read this book late at night and my mom would make me turn off my light and go to sleep! This is the best book I have ever read! You’ve got to read it and find more out!!!

Teachers were recently informed by our Technology Department that the software responsible for our report card data base has crashed. The system will be down this weekend and likely into next week.
My goal is to give the most up to date marks on the report cards, and therefore, I use this weekend to finalize scores and add comments for each one of my students. Within the last couple of hours, I found out that I as well as all the other teachers cannot access report cards—and I will not be able to share your son’s/daughter’s report card with you during conferences this coming week. As you can imagine, this has been a very stressful Saturday morning for me as well as the other teachers.
Once the Powerschool software is repaired, report cards will be completed and sent home. During conferences I will be highlighting strengths and areas for growth and sharing work samples.
Thank you for understanding this technical difficult at a most unfortunate crunch time!
